Perimeter Forum on Transportation Tax Draws Crowd

Residents and politicians from Dunwoody and Sandy Springs discussed issues regarding transportation projects at the Transportation Referendum Forum Wednesday.
Among the issues brought up, Sandy Springs Mayor Eva Galambos pressed the Atlanta Regional Roundtable on widening Hammond Drive.
Hammond Drive did not make the draft list, however a finalized list of projects will be announced by Oct. 15.

"Widening of Hammond Drive has been a part of our Comprenhesive Land Use Plan, which was adopted with huge community input," Galambos said. "It was then the number one project in the North Fulton regional transporation plan."
The forum by the Atlanta Regional Roundtable drew a large crowd at the North Fulton Service Center, on Roswell Road.

Four transportation experts answered written questions from audience on the possible list of more than $6 billion in transportation projects that would be funded by one-cent sales tax.
The panel included John Crocker, MARTA; John Orr, Atlanta Regional Commission; Emil Runge, office of Fulton County Chairman John Eaves; and Michael Fowler, Georgia Department of Transportation.
