Possibly Rabid Raccoon Picked up by DeKalb Animal Control Wednesday

A raccoon that was spotted wandering in circles on Bethesda Court during the day Wednesday.

Dunwoody Police were called to the scene, who called out DeKalb Animal Control who picked up the animal.

Staggering around in circles and wandering around in daylight are sometimes signs of rabies in the normally nocturnal animals.

Animal Control took samples from the raccoon to send to the CDC for testing for rabies.
