Scam Alert: Callers Seek Tax Payment, Threaten Arrest
Dunwoody Police say their officers won't call trying to collect taxes, and warn that scammers claiming to be with the IRS are phony.

Scam artists have called some Dunwoody residents claiming that they owe back taxes and face arrest, which police warn is a scam.
The Dunwoody Police Department and the Internal Revenue Service will not call anyone and threaten to arrest them for payment issues, authorities say.
Police recently received a report from a victim who said someone claiming to be with the IRS called him and said he owed $10,000. The caller warned that if the amount was not paid, the victim would be arrested.

Another person called claiming to be a Dunwoody Police officer. The scam artist wanted the victim to pay them with a Green Dot card. The Dunwoody Police Department will not ask residents to pay with Green Dot or Western Union.
Police say if you receive a call like this, hang up and call the legitimate agencies verified contact number, or Dunwoody Police at 678-382-6919.
