Weekender: MJCCA Musical, Mega Garage Sale and More Dunwoody Happenings
Looking for something to get into this weekend? A community garage sale includes more than 20 participating homes.
- “Seussical: The Musical.” The Marcus Jewish Community Center show closes its run with three performances on Sunday. See all your favorite Dr. Seuss friends including Horton the Elephant, The Cat in the Hat, Gertrude McFuzz, Lazy Mayzie, and a little boy with a big imagination--Jojo. 11 a.m., 1 p.m. and 4 p.m.
- Deerfield Community Garage Sale. A community garage sale with over 20 homes participating will likely draw folks interesting in finding antiques, treasures, clothes, school supplies, books, electronics and more. 8 a.m.-3 p.m., Saturday. Deerfield subdivision off Mount Vernon and Dunwoody Club Drive. Rain date: Saturday, May 11.
- Pet Adoptions. The Homeless Pets Foundation has pets available for adoption every Saturday and Sunday at the Dunwoody Petsmart located at 128 Perimeter Center West. 11:30 a.m.-4:30 p.m., Saturday; Noon-4:30 p.m., Sunday.
- MJCCA’S 20th Harris Jacobs Dream Run. This year’s race features a new AJC Peachtree Road Race qualifier that allows runners to use their time to qualify for a start wave in the 2014 Road Race. The Sunday race also includes chip-timing, packet pick-up prior to race day, and post-race massages. 7 a.m. registration. $15. - Sunday Bike Rides. A 36-mile ride starts at Chick-fil-a on Mount Vernon Road at Abernathy Road. Later on in a separate ride, all ages and abilities meet at 2:30 p.m. at Bruster’s Ice Cream parking lot in Dunwoody Village on Chamblee Dunwoody Road for a 4.5 mille ride. After safety checks the group promptly depart at 3 p.m. Helmets required. Ride all together as a group with designated leaders.
