DUNWOODY, GA — Police warn of scammers at Perimeter Mall after a woman told police she was conned out of $10,000 playing a three-card game.

According to the Dunwoody Police Department, a woman was recently approached by another woman who said she was playing three-card for money.

Police said the woman "asked the victim to witness the game so she 'would not be taken advantage of.'"

The victim was offered $200 for her help, police said.

After the victim was taken to the table where the three-card game was happening, she was told bet amounts had reached $30,000 and that the woman who approached her had been selecting the correct card each time, police said.

She agreed to play the game herself; but, the card dealer told her she needed a good-faith payment of $10,000 on her bet for $30,000, police said.

The victim agreed, drove to a bank to withdraw the money and returned to the mall to play the game, police said. When she chose the wrong card, police said the dealer grabbed the envelope with the money and walked away.

"This is not the first time someone has been scammed out of a large sum of money from a 'game,' particularly at the mall. If you are ever approached by a random person asking if you would like to make some money, simply say “No, thank you” and walk away. This case is still currently under investigation," Dunwoody police said in a Facebook post.
