
A 9-year-old boy was killed in Grant Park Thursday night after being run over by an ice cream truck, Atlanta police said.
Another boy, believed to be about six years old, also was run over, and suffered a broken leg in the incident, which occurred in the 700 block of Eloise Court SE.
The two children were playing on the back of the ice cream truck, APD spokeswoman Kim Jones wrote in an e-mail.

"The driver asked the parents to remove their children from the rear of truck. At some point the driver pulled off causing the two children to fall off the rear of the truck," she said.
The dead boy was struck by the rear wheels of the truck.

The other boy is hospitalized with a broken leg, she said.
Police say the driver will not face any charges.
