Wesley International Academy takes on Wall Street and wins

CUSTER/McDONOUGH/GUICE β€” Some of the best and the brightest students at Wesley International AcademyΒ recently took on Wall Street and won big.

The school’s Stock Market teams earned top placement as the Atlanta City region winner of the fall 2012 Georgia Stock Market Gameβ„’ program. These are the winningΒ fifth-gradersΒ from Wesley’s Gifted and Talented Education (GATE) program: Sophie Poels, Sophia Taylor and DeAsia Wesley TheyΒ will be honored at the Stock Market Game banquet in May.

There are 61 students in Wesley’s GATE program, which caters to students with high academic creative abilities. This is the first year GATE has been offered at Wesley.

The Stock Market Game is a simulated computerized program that allows students to buy and sell stocks using information from actual companies. Each student articipated in the game by working collaboratively with their teammates and by doing online research.

Wesley International Academy is a tuition-free public charter school in the Atlanta Public School system. It has a certified International Baccalaureate program and single-gender classroom instruction for kindergartners through eighth-graders on its campus at Custer and Woodland
