At approximately 12:30 a.m Monday, two men were robbed in the 1000 block of Austin Avenue. The two male victims were walking west from Little Five Points when they were approached from behind by two suspects who brandished a semi-automatic handgun and demanded the victims' property. The robbers took their mobile phones, wallets and cash.
While the suspects were attempting to enter the PIN number on one of the phones, both victims fled in separate directions. It is not known which way suspects fled. The Atlanta Police Department and Inman Park Patrol responded, and APD placed a lookout. MARTA Police also was notified due to the proximity of the incident to the train station.
It is advised to avoid walking in dark or isolated areas late at night. Over the past few years we have seen a pattern of criminals targeting late night bar and restaurant patrons in several neighborhoods. Please take precautions when out and about in the neighborhood if you plan on being out late and report any suspicious activity immediately to 911 and then the Patrol at (404) 414-7802.
