UPDATED: Atlanta Police Officer Drives Into Ditch After Being HIt By Motorist On Moreland Avenue

The Atlanta Police Department is investigating an accident involving a police cruiser and a motorist in which both vehicles ended up in a ditch off Moreland Avenue, just north of the Lynwyn Lane intersection.

The accident occurred Thursday afternoon.

A Zone 6 police officer was responding to a fight call when a vehicle turned into his patrol vehicle, Ofc. Kimberly Maggart, an APD spokeswoman said Thrusday.

The vehicle struck the patrol vehicle in its right rear tire.  That caused the officer's vehicle to spin out and roll down a bank and into a ravine with another vehicle.

No one was injured, she said.
