Atlanta Woman's Club Hosts and Boasts about a New Fund-Raising Initiative They Call "A Seeded Event" to Benefit Synchronicity Theater
Through its Seeded Event program, The Atlanta Woman's Club hosted Synchronicity Theatre's Holiday Benefit on Dec 3; raising 120% of its goal

The Atlanta Woman’s Club is one of oldest non-profit woman’s organizations in Atlanta, organized November 11, 1895. For more than 100 years, The Atlanta Woman’s Club (AWC) has been involved in community and national needs including promoting the quality of life in the City of Atlanta, education, preserving natural resources, and stressing good citizenship. Their mission is quite simple, “….to encourage our members to become interested, involved citizens of the community by engaging in charitable activities that benefit the community as a whole.” Over the past few years, the Atlanta Woman’s Club and its members contributed over $200,000 to various local and national charity initiatives. To continue their good work within the community, in 2014 they established a new fund-raising program entitled “A Seeded Event” wherein the Atlanta Woman’s Club will donate their beautiful home, The Wimbish House, as well as assist and on occasion seed or front the costs for your fundraiser.
“Our Club wishes to be one that supports other nonprofits and community partners.” said Former AWC President/current Fund-raising Committee Chair, Karen Clydesdale. “We want to help organizations raise funds by hosting and organizing their next fund-raising event provided the charity’s objectives are consistent with our mission and bylaws, as well as falls within our six Community Service Areas: Arts, Home Life, Education, Public Issues, International Outreach and Conservation.”
If an organization is selected to partner with the Atlanta Woman’s Club’s “A Seeded Event” program, The Atlanta Woman’s Club will assist with hosting the event and provide their event facility, The Wimbish House free of charge. If appropriate and reasonable, they may also provide the seed money to engage various vendors for the event. The Atlanta Woman’s Club will partner and work together on marketing the selected charity’s event using by using the selected charity’s mailing list, either by mail or email. AWC will pay expenses and collect all funds received. Costs of the event will be deducted from the funds collected and the charity will receive the net proceeds of the fundraiser. It’s a win/win for everyone involved.

On December 3rd, the Atlanta Woman’s Club hosted “A Seeded Event” for Synchronicity Theatre to welcome the theatre group to the Midtown area. “We wanted to not only welcome them to the area, but we felt Synchronicity’s mission fit well within our Arts Community Service Program mission. Not only does it support women artists, it has a wonderful community outreach program, Playmaking for Girls which works with at risk teen girls. Once we received their application, read their mission, we wanted to do something with them right away.” said Rita McGregor, Arts Chair.
The Benefit was a wonderful success. The Wimbish House, elegant as always, was dressed in its finest Holiday Décor. The guests enjoyed a wonderful holiday-spirited event filled with delectable food, fantastic silent auction items and fun, dancing and special performances by Synchronicity Theatre and their Playmaking for Girls actors. The young ladies performed a skit they created themselves. The audience was touched and inspired to learn more about Synchronicity’s Playmaking for Girls program. “What a wonderful way to start off the holiday season of giving for our Club” said Judine Heard, Atlanta Woman’s Club President. “Our members and the fund-raising committee worked hard on this first Seeded Event” and we look forward to our next Seeded Event for the Georgia Center for Child Advocacy’s Works of HeART, wherein 40 original pieces of heart inspired Art will be auction off for charity. This event is scheduled for February, 7, 2015.” For more information on upcoming Seeded Event Benefits and the Georgia Center for Child Advocacy’s Works of HeART benefit, please visit www.atlwc.org.
