Lynching of a Morehouse Man

Researchers Stephane Dunn, a professor at Morehouse College and local historian Nasir Muhanmmad, will present Lynching of a Morehouse Man: The Murder of Dennis Hubert.

In June of 1930, Dennis Hubert, a sophomore theology student at Morehouse College and the son of one of Atlanta's most prominent black ministers, was lynched for allegedly disrespecting two white women.  Many, black and white, reacted with outrage, which brought sympathizers of the killers to seek retribution by burning the Hubert's home.  All seven of the men involved in the killing were eventually convicted.

The researchers have examined the case using court documents, newspapers clippings and interviews and are writing a book and producing a documentary on the subject.
