And you thought the EAV was just about beer? It's the Taste of East Atlanta, where patrons can sample the offerings of area eateries for only $1. The Taste runs from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. You may purchase tickets at the East Atlanta Village Farmers Market or at the Taste booth at the corner of Flat Shoals and Glenwood avenues. FRIDAY:

BAT*L Gala at the East Lake Golf Club. This year mark s the 147th anniversary of the Battle of Atlanta, which was fought in several neighborhoods in East Atlanta Patch, including what s present-day East Atlanta Village and Kirkwood. The gala, which will be held at 2575 Alston Dr. SE, at 7:30 p.m., is one of many commemorative events scheduled this week. Among the festivities: a 5K run, van and walking Tours, and re-creation of the Frontlines with Living History Soldiers. Gala tickets $50 each. Website: http://www.batlevent.org.
