Funeral Services For Georgia National Guardsman To Be Held Today

Accused killer remains in jail on murder charges.

Funeral services for Spc. Mitt-Chai Lenix, the Georgia National Guardsman, medic and martial arts expert who at the , will be held today.

Services are set for 7 p.m. at the Salem Baptist Church, 1724 Highway 155 North in McDonough.

After the service, the mouners will gather in the Salem Baptist Church's Fellowship Hall.

Quentric S. Williams, his accused killer, remains in jail on murder and other charges.

In a message on the website of Lenix family's martial arts studio, they have asked that people bring balloons to be released following the funeral. Martial artists are encouraged to wear their uniforms.

Instead of flowers or gifts, the family requests that they make donations instead to the Mitt Lenix Memorial Fund, which has been established — in conjunction with the family and friends of the Lenix Family and Starlight Drive-In Theatre — to further the awareness of martial arts in metro Atlanta.

"The purpose of this fund is to assist those in need and who have a desire to enter the teachings of martial arts," the family wrote in the posting.

"Over the years these students have passed through the martial arts studio and have embraced a positive direction in life. Throughout Mitt's lifetime he personally taught and mentored hundreds of students who have entered the doors."
