LOCAL POULTRY PRODUCER AND HARVEST 4 HEALTH PARTNER TO PROVIDE NUTRITIOUS MEALS FOR CHEMO PATIENTS

Order in advance online and pick up at Sawicki's in Decatur or Winship Cancer Institute at Emory University

MT. AIRY, Ga. (March 20, 2015) – When the side effects of chemotherapy can vary from fatigue, flu-like symptoms, body aches, and more, a healthy meal post treatment is essential. North Ga.–based Springer Mountain Farms has partnered with Harvest 4 Health to help alleviate these common side effects.

The two brands will provide fresh, nutritious meals for patients who are undergoing chemotherapy treatments and need nutritional support. Customers can place orders online and pick up their farm-to-table meals at Sawicki’s in Decatur or at Winship Cancer Institute at Emory University in Atlanta. The program offers occasional specials, like a Buy-One-Get-One coupon for new Springer Mountain Farms dishes, and gift certificates for those looking to gift their loved ones with a freshly prepared meal.

β€œDuring a difficult time like cancer treatment, patients and their caregivers should not have to worry about preparing nutritious meals,” said Chef Lynne Sawicki of Sawicki’s, founder of Harvest 4 Health. β€œThis program eliminates the burden of buying groceries and cooking a meal so patients can truly focus on their health, wellness and recovery.”

Springer Mountain Farms, known for its flavorful, humanely-raised chicken without antibiotics, has provided its healthy product to Sawicki’s chefs who create custom meals for the program using fresh, locally grown ingredients with no chemicals or allergens. Based on recommendations by their doctors and dieticians, patients and their families can place an order for a custom meal such as Roasted Chicken, Gluten-Free Pasta Primavera or Tangine Chicken by 5 p.m. for next-day delivery so the order is ready the minute the patient is out of chemo treatment. The customer is sent an email with a 4-digit code that allows access to the Harvest 4 Health refrigerator at Winship Cancer Institute any time after 8 a.m. The meals are placed in eco-friendly containers with their receipt and re-heating instructions.

Harvest 4 Health is also open to anyone who wants to eat clean, healthy, farm-to-table meals, available for pick-up at Sawicki’s. For more information on Harvest 4 Health or to place your first order today, visit their website at www.sawickisfoods.com/harvest-4-health.
