Man Accused Of Raping Woman Who Was Asleep Arrested During SWAT Standoff: DeKalb Sheriff

An hours-long SWAT standoff ended with the arrest of a man accused of raping a woman who was asleep in her DeKalb home, authorities say.

EAST ATLANTA, GA — A man accused of raping a woman while she was asleep was arrested after an hours-long standoff Thursday in East Atlanta, authorities said.

The standoff took place on Brownlee Road, according to the DeKalb County Sheriff's Office.

The department's Fugitive Unit and Atlanta Police SWAT officers arrested Deacon Tyrone Hopkinsbey, 50, of Atlanta, during the standoff, authorities said.

Hopkinsbey was accused of raping a woman who was asleep in her Stone Mountain home on May 26, authorities said.

He was taken to the DeKalb County Jail, where he is being held without bond, authorities said.
