Ocean Market will begin its takeoff for the Local Artist Series this Friday during a champagne celebration

Ocean Market, a Parisian-inspired bistro located in Downtown Atlanta, will kickoff its Local Artist Series on Friday, August 1, 2014 during a champagne celebration for photographer Amy Simone from 6 to 9 p.m. Open to the public, guests are invited mix and mingle with the featured artist as they sip on complimentary champagne and enjoy bites created by Chef Shane McIntosh of Ocean Market while perusing Amy’s work, which will also be available for purchase. Co-owners Chef Shane and Sage Stewart will rotate works from local artists of various mediums every few months. “The majority of my photographs depict energy that has been imprinted onto objects - a snapshot of words, emotions and actions that have been left behind. Some are echoes of past grandeur that provoke a visual nostalgia. Others are vignettes of a suspended moment in time,” says Amy while discussing her work.

A self-taught Atlanta based photographer, Amy balances medicine and art on a daily basis. She is a proud employee of Emory Healthcare and loves exploring the world through her patients and her lens. Photography and ballet have been lifelong interests, which she has always studied alongside science and medicine. Her favorite subject matter includes defunct objects and structures that embody the energy of the people who have touched them – her photography is an attempt to tell a moment of their story.
