Village Theatre Moving To Pencil Factory Flats & Shops
Current home of nearly three years to be torn down
The Village Theatre said Wednesday it signed a lease for a 3,800-square-foot space in the Pencil Factory Flats & Shops at 349 Decatur St.
Terms of the lease were not disclosed.
Chris Clabo, one of the co-owners of the comedy improv theatre founded in October of 2008, told East Atlanta Patch the move is necessitated by the pending demolition of its current home at 486 Decatur St. That location is to be replaced by a self-storage facility, he said.

The new space will allow for expanded seating 145 patrons vs. 105 now, he said. There also will be space designated for classes and a greenroom behind the stage.
The Village Theatre, which also is applying for a liquor license, anticipates moving to its new space by the end of October, Clabo said.

“With fully occupied residences, great restaurants, bars, coffee shop and a top-end salon, the addition of the Village Theatre’s entertainment, electrifies Pencil Factory as a community within the community,” Aaron Goldman, Perennial Properties president said in a statement. “We’re very happy to have ended up with a perfect tenant mix for the in-town palate."
