12 East Cobbers Named UGA Scholars

Recent Pope and Walton graduates earn Charter Scholarships for incoming freshmen.

Twelve recent graduates of East Cobb high schools have been named recipients of the University of Georgia's Charter Scholarship for the 2011-12 year. 

The students are incoming freshmen with top-notch academic records, leadership and community involvement and commitment to intellectual, social and cultural diversity. They will receive $1,000 a year with possibility of having the scholarship renewed based on academic performance.

The scholarship is named after UGA's designation as the first public state-chartered university in the country.

The Charter Scholars from are: Brandon Fram; Samantha Kassem; Charles Sheridan; Avichai Tohar. 

And the recipients are: Carlie Austin; Jialei Deng; Lindsay Friedrich; Hannah Kubiak; Sarah McGinnis; Philip Ratnowsky; Sarah Riley; Shreya Singh.
