Here are the top three stories in East Cobb today:

1. Guerry Baldwin, the founder and president of East Cobb (Georgia) Baseball is being inducted into the 2022 Perfect Game Hall of Fame class. He is the first travel team coach and second non-player to be inducted into the Perfect Game Hall of Fame. He is joining an elite 2022 class of Major Leaguers that includes Pete Alonso, Nolan Arenado, Freddie Freeman, and Manny Machado. (Cision)
2. Cobb County is now in a state of emergency due to Hurricane Ian. It went into effect Tuesday at 7:00 p.m. Georgia Governor Brian Kemp declared a state of emergency for all of the state's counties. Georgia's State Operations Center has been activated to respond to Hurricane Ian. The tropical storm is expected to leave Georgia on Sunday. (Cobb County Courier)
3. Cobb County Schools' Walton and Wheeler students placed among the top ten high schools in the state for collective SAT scores in 2022. Walton placed third with a combined score of 1,255 with 517 test-takers. Wheeler tied for tenth place with a combined score of 1,211 with 296 test-takers. The maximum score for the SAT is 1,600. • The Cobb County Public Library is hosting an author talk with Richard Hite on Oct. 4 at 6:00 p.m. at Charles D. Switzer Library. The talk will discuss be discussing his book "Shadow of Salem: The Andover Witch Hunt of 1692." (Cobb County)
• The World Photograph Cup's winning Gold Place exhibit by Team USA will be on display at Mable House Arts Center starting today. The exhibit will run through Nov. 11. (Cobb County)
• The next Cobb County Board of Commissioners meeting is scheduled for Oct. 11 at 9:00 a.m. Mark your calendar. (Cobb County)
