6th District Race: Two Local Politicians Back Slotin

Democratic candidate Ron Slotin gets nod from councilwomen in Dunwoody and Chamblee.

EAST COBB -- Democratic candidate Ron Slotin recently received some high-ranking support from local politicians, his campaign announced Wednesday.

Dunwoody Councilwoman Lynn Deutsch and Chamblee City Councilwoman Leslie Robson expressed their support for Slotin to represent Georgia's 6th District in Congress.

Slotin, a former state senator and Sandy Springs entrepreneur, is one of 18 candidates, including five Democrats, vying to represent the 6th District, which stretches from East Cobb to north DeKalb and north Fulton counties.

Dunwoody Councilwoman Lynn Deutsch said that Slotin will be a results-driven representative.
“He understands the needs of our communities. He has an established record of working collaboratively in the State Senate to get results including helping to pass the Hope Scholarships. I also think he is the Democratic candidate best suited to make things happen in Washington.”

Robson said that politics as usual has not served the district well.

"I’m tired of the chaos in Washington! We need thoughtful, experienced leadership coming from the Sixth District that will put our priorities ahead of personal political ambition."

After voting Republican for more than two decades, the district almost flipped last year during the presidential election between Donald Trump and Hillary Clinton. Democrats feel they can make strides among the area's college-educated millennial voters.

The special election, the earliest in the Trump era, will be held April 18. The 6th District covers parts of Cobb, Fulton and DeKalb counties including these cities: Brookhaven, Northlake, Tucker, East Cobb, Sandy Springs, Dunwoody, Roswell, Alpharetta, Johns Creek, Milton, Chamblee and Doraville.
