Atlanta’s Thanksgiving Day Traditions

Besides gorging themselves on turkey and stuffing, people around Atlanta are all about traditions! Before or after a meal of thanks, people young and old go out to enjoy the festivities that the Big Peach has to offer!

Kicking off The Thanksgiving Day Traditions is The Atlanta Half Marathon and Thanksgiving Day 5k!

The Half Marathon kicks off at 7:30 am at Turner Field in Downtown Atlanta. There is also The Thanksgiving Day 5K (ages 8 and up), The Mashed Potato Mile (ages 7 to 12), and The Gravy Gallop (ages 6 and under). The whole family can be involved!  So get off the couch and go work for that sweet potato casserole! For more information about the events go to:

For those of you who would like to be adventurous but would rather not spend their Thanksgiving Day chafed and exhausted you might want to try Ice Skating at Centennial Olympic Park!

The ice skating rink will be open on Thanksgiving Day from 2:00pm to 10:00pm! The cost is $10 a person and this includes the price of skate rentals! This is a fun way to make a memory with your loved ones! For more information go to:

For those that are not interested in any physical activity besides eating you may want to check out The Macys Great Tree Lighting at Lenox Square! This has been an Atlanta Tradition since 1948! Usually the activities kick off around 4pm with concerts and performances. Then the tree is lite up at 7pm! So grab the family and head out to see this spectacular tradition!

Whatever you choose to do this Thanksgiving time, make it special by sharing it with those that you love!

We at The Last Strand Certified Lice Removal Specialists would like to wish you and your family a safe and happy Holiday Season!
