Basic Office Technology Program to Start Aug. 12
The KSU Continuing Education technology certificate provides skills refresher

From desktops and laptops to tablets and smartphones and everything in between, the most up-to-date technology is creating an ever-changing work environment. With the Basic Office Technology certificate program at KSU’s College of Continuing and Professional Education, students can stay abreast of the latest technology used in an office setting.
Kenneth Ellis, 2016 graduate, said the class taught him several skills he did not know before.
“This program provides good office training by allowing us to get familiar with the Microsoft Office package,” Ellis said. “This is a great course for anyone who wants to sharpen his or her office skills. The instructor was excellent and very knowledgeable."

In addition to gaining a practical understanding of multiple platforms, students will acquire the skills to create documents, presentations, worksheets, and databases using various Microsoft Office products. Security safety, ethics and privacy are also discussed.
Rebecca Mattox, program manager for the Basic Office Technology certificate said the course is ideal for adults desiring to sharpen and gain new skills in preparation of returning to the workforce.

“This program brings students up to speed on office technology,” Mattox said. “It’s designed for seasoned adults and our goal is to have students become comfortable with using technology in the workplace.”
This program is eligible for a variety of financing options including Workforce
Innovation and Opportunity Act funding, VA Education Benefits and payment plans.
