The quickest way to get caught up on the most important things happening today in East Cobb.

Hello again, neighbors. It's Saturday in East Cobb and I'm back in your inbox with everything that's fit to print about what's happening in the community.

But first, today's weather:

Mostly sunny. High: 66 Low: 42.

📢 I'm looking for business owners and marketers in East Cobb who want to build awareness, connect with customers and increase sales.

I have a limited number of sponsorships available to introduce our readers to local businesses they need to know. If that's you, then I invite you to learn more and secure your spot now.

Here are the top three stories in East Cobb today:

  1. The Cobb County School District is hosting a Stakeholders Meeting for Federal Programs on Thursday, Mar. 30 at 6:30 pm. The meeting will be an opportunity to discuss and gather feedback for the District Improvement Plan, including the Title I Family & Community Engagement Policy, with the aim of improving student achievement. Interested stakeholders can join the meeting via Teams using the provided link and can contact the school district for any further questions. (Press Release Desk)
  2. The Marietta Planning Commission has recommended approval for a proposed mixed-use development on a Kroger site on Powers Ferry Road that includes 322 apartments, 6,000 square feet of retail space, and a six-and-a-half-story high parking deck. The proposal is now being presented before the Marietta City Council for final action. While the density of the project is high, it is similar to other multi-family complexes in the Powers Ferry corridor and has received the support of the Powers Ferry Corridor Alliance. 3. An application for a subdivision development on Post Oak Tritt Road in East Cobb has been continued to April, according to the early agenda for the Cobb Planning Commission meeting on Tuesday. The property is zoned R-30 and is designated as low-density residential in the Cobb future land use map; it also contains the Power-Jackson Cabin, a one-room log home from the mid-1800s that's a local and state historical landmark. The Cobb Historic Preservation Commission has been working to find preservation solutions for the cabin and if it is torn down, the developer could be subject to a mitigation fee similar to one levied in 2018.
