UPDATE: Boy Struck by Car in East Cobb

The 7-year-old is in critical condition at a nearby hospital, according to a report.

UPDATE: A 7-year-old boy is in critical condition at a local hospital after he was struck by a pickup truck while trying to cross a busy road in East Cobb.

WSB-TV reports that the boy was with his two siblings and his mother trying to cross Delk Road at Franklin Road at approximately 5:30 p.m. Thursday. The family was not using the crosswalk, and was crossing through a turn lane when a pickup truck pulled in to make a turn. Witnesses told WSB-TV that the mother was able to pull back one of her children, but the truck hit the boy.

The investigation into the crash continues.

ORIGINAL STORY: A child has been hit by a car along a busy East Cobb thoroughfare, Marietta police said Thursday.

FOX 5 Atlanta reports the child was struck near the intersection of Franklin and Delk roads. Police have not released any information on the child or the child’s condition.
