Here are the top three stories today in East Cobb:

  1. The Cobb 2023 operating budget proposed Tuesday would create 147 new county government positions addressing what has been labeled serious staffing and employment issues. Chairwoman Lisa Cupid said the new positions are in response to feedback from constituents. "We want to make sure our employees are valued because that's how we provide value to our citizens," said Cupid, who has said for years that previous commissions haven't adequately staffed, paid, and retained employees in critical positions. (East Cobb News)
  2. The community is invited to the groundbreaking for Cobb Veterans Memorial on Friday, Jul. 7 at 502 Fairground Street SE, Marietta at 10:00 a.m. The park plans feature a 142-foot "Star Tower" monument and honor walls listing the names of veterans from all military branches. Construction is anticipated to be completed by 2024. (East Cobb News)
  3. The Cobb Chamber announced that BIOLYTE, a recovery drink manufacturer, is relocating to a new warehouse in Marietta. The company is investing $60,000 in its new facility and adding 13 new jobs. BIOLYTE offers the same benefits as IV rehydration therapy. (Cobb County Courier)
