The Cobb County Board of Commissioners adopted the $496M FY2022 budget as well as the FY21 Millage Rate during their meeting on July 27th. Although the millage rate remains stable, the tax digest grew. Commissioners approved a budget that included 3% merit raises for employees, provides for a "step and grade" and addresses compression issues within public safety, and enhances the county's capital budget which has languished in recent years.

Finance Director Bill Volckmann explained that because of the Homestead Exemption, most Cobb homeowners will not see an increase in the amount they pay to the county's general fund. If their home was reassessed, they may pay more to the school district and fire fund.
