Cobb County Trains on Large Animal Rescue Techniques

From Cobb County Fire & Emergency Services:

November 7-9, 2016, Cobb Fire Technical Rescue Squad 4, Squad 14, and Stations’ 7 and 22 participated in Large Animal Rescue Training. This training was hosted by Large Animal Response Group (LARG) of Cobb County, a community based 501(c) (3) volunteer rescue organization led by Laurie Wilson, founder of LARG.

Members of Cobb County Fire Department learned horse haltering and handling techniques, barn construction, horse trailer loading/unloading techniques and construction, and familiarization rescue techniques with specialty equipment for large animal rescue. Barrows Towing volunteered their services as part of the response team for hoisting operations. Used in conjunction with the Becker Sling, a lifting device specifically designed for large animals, trapped animals are able to be hoisted as necessary. Cobb Fire personnel are training for a support role to LARG in the event of an emergency animal rescue.
