Cobb Police Have Hundreds of Untested Rape Kits: Report
More than 350 rape kits, some decades old, have yet to be tested by Cobb police; thousands remain untested in Georgia.

Cobb County is among several metro Atlanta jurisdictions with a significant backlog of rape kits, according to an investigative report by CBS Atlanta.
The report claims that Cobb County has 365 untested rape kits, some dating back to the 1970s. Athens-Clarke County police have almost 160 rape kits in need of testing, while Grady Memorial Hospital reports that they hold 1,490 untested rape kits.
Both Cobb and Athens-Clarke County police are working to clear their backlogs and have implemented policies to prevent such backlogs from happening again, the report claims. Although there is no statewide mandate to clear rape kit backlogs, a Georgia State Representative has introduced a bill to change that.
