🌱 Deputies Shoot Accused Killer + 1st Annual Beer Symposium

First, today's weather:

An afternoon thunderstorm. High: 90 Low: 72.

Here are the top three stories in East Cobb today:

This past Tuesday, Georgia deputies, responding to a welfare check at a home on Long Creek Drive in Buford, shot and killed a man wielding a knife. They later found a mother, 42-year-old Kim Nguyen, and her daughter, 18-year-old Lam-Anh Tran, dead inside the home. According to authorities, when the deputies were searching the home they were met by a man making aggressive movements toward them with a knife. As a result, the man was shot and killed by the deputies. The man's name has not yet been released and his relationship with the victims is unclear. (The Telegraph)

Catherine Pozniak, who is challenging Post 4 incumbent David Chastain for a seat on the Cobb Board of Education, announced in a video on her campaign website that she will be away on U.S. Army Reserve duty for the next six weeks. Pozniak, who is a military government specialist for the reserve's Civil Affairs and Psychological Operations Command and advises on educational issues, will report next week and return in mid-September.
