🌱 Cobb Students Return To School + Midtown Music Festival Cancelled

The quickest way to get caught up on the most important things happening today in East Cobb.

Hi all. It's me, Carla Varner, your host of the East Cobb Daily. Here's everything you need to know about what's happening in town today...

First, today's weather:

Partly sunny with a t-storm. High: 89 Low: 70.

Here are the top three stories in East Cobb today:

  1. Cobb County students were among a dozen school districts that headed back to school yesterday morning. Monday was the first day for thousands of students in Atlanta Public Schools, Cobb, Cherokee, Fannin, Greene, Lumpkin, Madison, Morgan, Newton, Paulding, Pickens, and Rockdale counties. Lisa Herring, Atlanta Public Schools Superintendent, said this year's focus will be personalized learning and attendance and students' mental health. (WSB-TV 2)
  2. The 2022 Music Midtown festival scheduled for September has been cancelled, partly due to Georgia's laws regarding guns in public parks. At play is a recent appeals court ruling related to the Atlanta Botanical Garden's ability to restrict guns from its property. The festival posted on social media yesterday that the cancellation was a result of "circumstances beyond our control." (The Atlanta Journal-Constitution)
  3. See who sold and bought the following residential real estate properties in East Cobb between Jul. 11 and 15. The deeds were filed with the Cobb Superior Court Clerk's Office Real Estate Department. (East Cobb News)
