Here are the top three stories in East Cobb today:
- A lawsuit brought by Ed Williams, leader of Concerned Citizens for Effective Government, questioning DeKalb County commissioners’ controversial 2018 vote to raise their own pay is still in the court system. The suit challenges whether the vote, that raised commissioners’ pay by nearly 60 percent, was legal. The increase was introduced and approved during a February 2018 meeting, without being listed on the agenda or going through the commission’s normal committee review process. - The Cobb Police Department is collecting school supplies for students in need through the end of the month through its Book Bag Palooza program. Donations will be accepted at all five police precincts through Jul. 30. KIDS CARE, a local non-profit, is also collecting new backpacks and school supplies through Jul. 30 at the Cobb Civic Center. - The Rotary Club of East Cobb is seeking sponsors for their 17th annual Dog Days Run, a 5K fundraiser for local non-profits.
