East Cobb Educator Receives Award

An art teacher at an East Cobb middle school has received teacher of the year honors from a state organization which promotes arts education.

Kacie Kamins Mummert, who teaches at Mabry Middle School, was named the Middle Level Art Educator of the Year by the Georgia Art Education Association during its fall conference in Macon between Oct. 2 - 5.

Mummert has been responsible for spearheading the drive to make Mabry’s arts program one of the best in the state, but her efforts weren’t restricted to the classroom. Mummert also organized partnerships with the High Museum of Art and the Zuckerman Museum of Art for the benefit of her students.
