East Cobb High Schools Surpass County, State, National SAT Scores
Walton, Wheeler, Lassiter, Kell, Pope, and Sprayberry all scored higher than the state average score for the Class of 2014.

Several East Cobb high schools performed better than the county and national averages on the 2014 SAT, while all East Cobb schools beat the state score, figures from the Cobb County School District released on Tuesday reveal.
Kell, Lassiter, Pope, Sprayberry, Walton, and Wheeler high schools all have average SAT scores above 1445, which was the state average score; Sprayberry’s 1448 mark barely beat out the state average, but the remainder of East Cobb’s high schools scored in the high 1400s and above. Cobb County’s average SAT scores for the Class of 2014 stood at 1515.
Walton High School boasted the highest average score in Cobb County at 1724, marking the seventh consecutive year that school has topped the 1700 mark on the SAT. Raider seniors scored 574, 587, and 563 on the SAT’s critical reading, mathematics, and writing portions, respectively. 99 percent of Walton’s seniors took the exam.

“Our students continue to outperform their peers across the nation,” said Interim Superintendent Chris Ragsdale in a statement. “All of our high schools are producing graduates who can be competitive and successful both in college and in the workforce. With the percentage of test takers having increased, it is impressive that our average score remained unchanged, even though scores declined nationally and in Georgia.”
