East Cobb Teacher Allegedly Drags Misbehaving Child to Front Office

The Tritt Elementary School teacher will not be returning to her kindergarten class, the Cobb County School District said.

A teacher at east Cobb’s Tritt Elementary School is in hot water after allegations surfaced that she dragged a child by his ankle from the classroom to the school’s front office.

A paraprofessional who was working with Judy Evon Bingham in her kindergarten class said that the boy was acting out in class, not sitting with his classmates or participating in the lesson. When Bingham tried to talk with him, he ran away and Bingham gave chase.

The Atlanta Journal-Constitution reports that Bingham grabbed the boy by his ankle and began dragging him out of the classroom towards the principal’s office. The boy allegedly hit his head on the floor when he was dragged by the teacher.

The incident only became known within the last few days, after a neighbor of the boy told the boy’s parents what happened. Once school officials learned of the situation, they immediately contacted the Cobb County School District. Cobb school police were reportedly interviewing witnesses, including Bingham and the paraprofessional, on Tuesday.

School district officials sent a letter home with Tritt students which said that Bingham would not be returning to teach at the school.
