Ex-Girlfriend Testifies in Trial of Cobb Man Accused of Killing Grandfather
Casey Collins allegedly drove around Atlanta high on drugs with his dead grandfather's body in the bed of his stolen pickup truck.

The ex-girlfriend of a Cobb County man accused of killing his grandfather and stuffing his body into the back of his own pickup truck testified against her former lover in court.
Sarah Cook testified that Casey Collins killed Edward Smith in 2013 after Smith refused to sell Collins any more prescription drugs, WSB-TV reports. Cook, who has already pleaded guilty to charges related to the killing, said she stabbed the 78-year-old man at Collins’ insistence, and testified that Collins strangled Smith with a belt after she had stabbed him.
Once Smith was dead, prosecutors say that Cook and Collins went on a shopping spree and drug binge using Smith’s money and Smith’s drugs, and Smith’s truck. The pair also allegedly hid Smith’s body under a tarp in the back of the truck. According to WSB-TV, Cook reported the crime to authorities after she realized that Collins wouldn’t protect her.
