An East Cobb man was killed in a fire inside his East Cobb townhome on Sunday morning, but neighbors were able to quickly alert authorities to the blaze and helped minimize the damage.
According to WSB-TV, the fire broke out at approximately 4 a.m. at the Garden Villas complex off of Powers Ferry Road. A neighbor saw the fire and immediately called 911. He then helped a woman escape from the neighboring townhouse.
A Cobb County police officer tried entering the burning townhome, but was turned back by the fire. Firefighters quickly arrived and got the flames under control, but it was too late to save the man who lived in the townhome.
