Home Depot Celebrates Veterans Day With Home-Building Event
Employees volunteer to help military families by building houses, assembling furniture.

ATLANTA, GA — For many people, Veterans Day is a time of ceremonies, celebration and reflection. But for employees at Home Depot's Cobb County headquarters on Friday, it was a time to use their home-building skills to help out today's military veterans.
In a parking lot at the retail chain's HQ, more than 2,000 workers built frames for the walls of four houses that will be donated to veteran families through Habitat for Humanity, the company announced.
Other employees assembled furniture for formerly homeless veterans "who need help making their houses and apartments feel more like home," the company said on its website. Other built playhouses for the children of eight veteran families.

The employees volunteered their talents for the Home Depot Foundation's sixth annual Celebration of Service Campaign, which culminated with Friday's event in the parking lot. During the campaign, which began Sept. 1, volunteers from Home Depot worked with local and national nonprofit organizations around the country to complete projects for aging, combat-wounded and homeless veterans.
