The Corporate Financial Planning and Analysis session is for attendees to meet the instructor, discuss course details & certification exam

The College of Continuing and Professional Education at Kennesaw State University will host a free information session for the Corporate Financial Planning and Analysis program Thursday, October 18 from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. at KSU Center. Attendees will meet the instructor, and discuss course details, opportunities for career growth and the industry-recognized certification.

“Financial planning and analysis expertise are in great demand,” said Rebecca Baker, program manager. “These professionals play a critical role in their organization’s decision-making process and long-term growth.”

The Corporate Financial Planning and Analysis program helps students analyze trends, build forecasts and create financial models. The program is led by Dave Phillips – a certified FP&A executive with more than a decade of experience in finance and IT.

Jennifer Wade, a CFP&A program graduate, described the program as the “perfect opportunity.” Wade’s interests in budgeting and forecasting stem from her career in accounting. The certificate gave Wade the opportunity to delve further into her interests.

“It’s been probably one of the best decisions I’ve made,” Wade said.

Like Wade, graduate Gerrold Kimbrough – an IT professional with more than two decades experience – considered the program the next step in his professional growth. Kimbrough's interest lies at the intersection of information technology and finance.

“It’s good for me [as an] IT professional to understand how information technology is used in the business context,” Kimbrough said. “Whether it be helping financial managers do budgeting, accounting or forecasting – it’s really important to leverage technology going forward.”

The certificate program at KSU CCPE is in partnership with the Association for Financial Professionals and is designed for individuals seeking credentials focused on mastering the core functions of the FP&A role.

“If you’re new to financial planning and analysis, it’s a good introduction,” Kimbrough said. “If you’ve been in financial planning and analysis for a while…it is good learning; helps you to get the certification.”
