In Loving Memory of Wynson L. Hope, 91

Obituary and service information from Mayes Ward-Dobbins Funeral Home in Marietta.

Retired Lieutenant Colonel, U.S. Army, Wynson L. Hope (called Hope by friends and family) of Marietta, Georgia, passed away at Wellstar Kennestone Hospital on Tuesday, August 18, 2015, at the age of 91. Hope was born in Buford, Georgia, on June 1, 1924, and he and his wife, Janice, resided in Marietta for the past 26 years.

Hope was a WWII Veteran and retired after a 34 year career. He was dedicated to his country and served with honor. At the end of his career, Hope served at the Command Headquarters on Confederate Avenue in Atlanta.

Hope is survived by his wife, Janice, and beloved companion, Peggy Sue; his daughter, Kathy Chesser and husband, Tim of Delaware, Ohio; grandsons, Donald Chesser (Christine) of Delaware, Ohio and Sam Chesser (Lindley) of Norwich, CT; two great-grandsons; two great-granddaughters; one brother, Marion Hope of Fayetteville, Georgia; several nieces and nephews.

Hope always had a keen sense of humor with a twinkle in his eye that always kept you guessing. Hope was a loyal husband, father, grandfather and friend. There will be a visitation at Mayes Ward-Dobbins Funeral Home in Marietta on Thursday, August 20, 2015 from 10:30 AM to 11:30 AM, followed by a Graveside Service at the Georgia National Cemetery in Canton, Georgia.
