Here are the top three stories today in East Cobb:
- This Tuesday, the Cobb Department of Transportation (DOT) is expected to ask county commissions to begin condemnation proceedings for the Lower Roswell Road project. Last year, commissioners approved the conceptual plan for the project, which will stretch from Davidson Road to Woodlawn Drive. Though Cobb DOT has continued its work with property acquisitions to begin construction, the department is requesting condemnation authority "in order to meet project deadlines." (East Cobb News)
- On Thursday, the Cobb Board of Education unanimously adopted a 2023 budget that will provide the largest salary increase in the school district's history. The $1.4 billion budget will take effect this Jul. 1 and include pay hikes between 8.5 and 13.10 percent for non-temporary employees. - Throughout the months of June and July, Cobb County families can receive free glasses and eye examinations. National nonprofit Vision to Learn will stage mobile clinics across Cobb, Gwinnett, and Clayton counties.
