Man Convicted of Murder for Milo's Bar Killing: News Near East Cobb

A Canton man has been convicted of murder for his role in the killing of a Sandy Springs man inside a Marietta bar in 2013, the Cobb County District Attorney’s office said.

Dennis Lee Hampton, 43, shot and killed Takilam Terrell, 34, inside Milo’s Bar on Garrison Road on April 7, 2013. Terrell and his girlfriend were having an argument when Hampton’s cousin Joseph Ricky Hampton got involved. Hampton then pulled out a pistol and fired at Terrell, killing him. Milo’s Bar has since been closed down.

“He brought a gun to a fistfight,” Deputy Chief ADA Jesse Evans told jurors according to a release. “Dennis Hampton executed Takilam Terrell for no reason.”

Hampton was found guilty of malice murder, felony murder, one count of aggravated assault and two counts of use of a firearm by a convicted felon during the commission of crime, the DA’s Office announced. He was acquitted of a second count of aggravated assault involving a bottle. He will be sentenced by Superior Court Judge S. Lark Ingram in the near future.

Charges are also pending against Joseph Hampton and his wife for their roles in the incident, the DA’s Office said.
