Marietta Gears Up for July 4th Event

Revelers can spend all of Independence Day inside Marietta Square taking in all the sights and sounds of the big day.

Marietta Square will be alive with activity on July 4th as live music, parades, museum tours, and carnival games join forces for Marietta’s Fourth in the Park.

The big day begins at 10 a.m. with the Marietta Freedom Parade and the fun won’t stop until 10 p.m., the city’s website announces.

The parade will feature 110 entries, 2,000 participants, and some 30,000 spectators as it wends its way Roswell Street Baptist Church to North Marietta Parkway via Roswell Street, East Park Square, and Cherokee Street. Local businesses, beauty queens, civic organizations, and scouts will be among the participants in the parade.

Once the parade ends, the festival proper begins. Visitors can enjoy arts and crafts, carnival games, and delicious food. Scott Thompson will begin the musical performances at noon, followed by the Atlanta Concert Band, Twisted Whiskey, and David Fanning.

The fireworks show will begin after the sun goes down, the city says.
