Marietta Police Arrest Two Suspects in Motel Shooting
Police believe the shooting at the East Cobb motel could be gang-related.

Two men are behind bars after Marietta police say they shot a third man during an altercation at an East Cobb motel earlier this month.

Cristian Romero, 21 and Erik Hernandez, 19 have been charged with aggravated assault with a weapon for the May 9 shooting of 23-year-old Erik Gonzalez at the Hospitality Inn on Delk Road. Gonzalez, who was located by police at Northside hospital, had been shot one time in the left side of his chest.
After police determined Gonzalez was the victim in the incident, they were able to identify Hernandez one of the two suspects involved and placed him into custody. Police said that Romero was later determined to be the second suspect and a warrant was issued for his arrest on May 14.

Romero was taken into custody two hours after the warrant was secured, with the assistance of the Cobb County Sheriff’s Department Fugitive Task Force and the U.S. Marshalls Office, police said.
Marietta police suspect gang activity was involved in the shooting and could file more charges as the investigation progresses.
