Marietta Woman Killed in Accident

A Marietta woman was killed in an automobile accident on Windy Hill Road on Monday afternoon, according to police.

Deborah D. Hayles, 60, was rushed to Wellstar Kennestone Hospital after the accident, but died from her injuries, Cobb County police spokesman Dana Pierce said. The driver of the vehicle Hayles was in, 72-year-old Louis E. Hayles, was also transported to the hospital for treatment of injurie.
According to Pierce, a 2004 blue Dodge Ram with a utility trailer was traveling on eastbound Windy Hill Road near Bouldercrest Drive at approximately 3 p.m. Monday when Hayle, driving a 1994 Oldsmobile Cutlass, attempted to turn left from the westbound lanes of Windy Hill Road into a Food Depot parking lot. The Dodge’s front side struck the passenger side of the Oldsmobile.

The driver of the Dodge has been identified as Juan Ortega Fernandez, 44, of Smyrna. Fernandez did not require medical attention, Pierce said, and added that he is not likely to face charges for the crash.
