First, today's weather:

Warm; an afternoon t-storm. High: 93 Low: 71.

Here are the top three stories today in East Cobb:

  1. Dr. Rich McCormick defeated Jake Evans to win the Republican runoff election for the 6th Congressional District. The Associated Press called the race less than 90 minutes after the polls closed. Unofficial results determined that McCormick led with 67 percent of the vote. (Yahoo News)
  2. Cobb County finance officials will present the fiscal year 2023 budget proposal to the Cobb Board of Commissioners at a work session on Tuesday, Jun. 28 at 1:30 p.m. Three public hearings on the budget and millage rate have been scheduled for July. The adoption is scheduled for Jul. 26. (East Cobb News)
  3. Recent Cobb County high school graduate Samyukta Iyer received a grand prize scholarship of $2,000 from a non-profit component of the Janice Overbeck Real Estate Team for her ideas about preserving the environment. Iyer will attend Georgia Tech in the fall and plans on majoring in biomedical engineering. (East Cobb News)
