Motorcyclist Dies In East Cobb Crash

The 18-year-old Marietta resident was pronounced dead at an area hospital on Monday.

MARIETTA, GA — An 18-year-old Marietta man was killed Monday in a two-vehicle crash along Johnson Ferry Road in East Cobb.

According to Cobb County police, a gray 2015 Yamaha FZ-07 motorcycle was traveling southbound on Johnson Ferry Road and was approaching Lake Rill Court when a white Isuzu NQR law service truck "crossed into its path while attempting to turn from Lake Rill Court" onto the northbound side of Johnson Ferry Road.

The operator of the motorcycle, 18-year-old Alexander Seidnitzer of Marietta, was transported to Wellstar Kennestone Hospital where later died from his injuries. The driver of the Isuzu NQR lawn service truck, 27-year-old Joshua Peavy of Smyrna, was not injured in the collision, Cobb police say.

"There is no traffic light at that intersection, but the preliminary investigation indicates that the motorcycle operator was at fault," said Cobb police spokesperson Officer Sarah O'Hara.

While investigators do not anticipate filing charges in this case, the accident remains under investigation. Anyone with information is asked to call the Cobb County Police Department at 770-499-3987.
