Here are the top three stories today in East Cobb:

  1. North American Properties' released new details about its plans to revamp the Avenue East Cobb shopping center on Roswell Road. The main feature is the building of two new "jewel box" store structures on either side of the semicircular development. Renderings also show the Bravura bridal shop would be demolished and replaced with a new public plaza with a seating area and stage. (MDJOnline.com)
  2. The opponents of Cobb's failed cityhood efforts this week dismissed the legal challenges to form new cities in East Cobb, Lost Mountain, and Vinings. The lawsuits, filed by attorney Allen Lightcap on behalf of residents in the three areas, stated that the "city lite" formation of the three pushes was an unconstitutional violation of Georgia's home rule principle. Cobb Superior Court Chief Judge Robert Leonard declined to rule on the arguments before the referendums citing that if the referendums failed the cases would be moot. (Yahoo News)
  3. Toll Brothers, Inc., a luxury home builder, announced the grand opening of its model home at Edgewood East, a new community of luxury homes in East Cobb. The new home model is a blend of luxury and contemporary design with innovative architecture and stunning interior modeling. "The newly-opened Edgewood East model home serves as an inspiration for our home buyers who are looking for a spacious retreat to call home in heart of East Cobb," said Eric White, Division President of Toll Brothers in Atlanta. Are you an East Cobb resident looking for an investment alternative to the stock market?

Bloomberg recently asked experts where they'd invest $100,000 right now, and many of them had the same answer: fine art.

Thinking you can't afford a Picasso? Well in 2012, Congress passed the JOBS Act, which allowed for the securitization of artwork. A company called Masterworks.io built the largest platform for buying and selling art securities. In the past, you could only buy shares of companies like Apple, but with this investing app, you can unlock this powerful investment.

Meaning, you can invest in shares of million-dollar artwork. And in uncertain times, it turns out, fine art may be a wise investment. Here's why:

  • Low correlation to stocks according to Citi
  • Contemporary art historically returns 23.2% when inflation is >3%
  • Contemporary art prices outpaced the S&P 500 by 164% (1995-2021)
