Nearby: Fire Destroys Marietta Pawn Shop

A pawn shop which has served the Marietta area for three decades was gutted by a Monday evening fire, Atlanta fire officials said.

Cobb Pawn and Gold, located at 842 South Cobb Dr., caught fire at approximately 7 p.m. Monday, WSB-TV says. The fire, which began in the basement, was aided by nearby propane tanks. The venting tanks forced firefighters to retreat from the building before they could begin battling the blaze.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
