Happy Thursday, neighbors! Let's get you all caught up to start today off on an informed note.

First, today's weather:

Hot with periods of sun. High: 92 Low: 69.

Here are the top three stories today in East Cobb:

  1. Opponents to a new city of East Cobb claimed that the East Cobb Cityhood Committee failed to file a campaign contribution disclosure report due May 9, said an attorney with Georgia's campaign finance oversight body. Opponents allege that the omission violates state ethics laws. The East Cobb Cityhood Committee stated that their 501(c)(4) status means it is not required to file the disclosure. (MDJOnline.com)
  2. Construction on the new Walton High School athletic complex, the new home for the Raiders' baseball and tennis teams, has begun. Fencing, basic excavating, and groundwork are now underway. The $6.738 million contract for the facility was approved by the Cobb Board of Education last March. (East Cobb News)
  3. A motorcyclist died in a crash on Terrell Mill Road and I-75 Tuesday night. The victim, 42-year-old Harry A. Edwards, was pronounced dead at Wellstar Kennestone Hospital. Edwards hit the right side of 58-year-old Robin J. Tawzer's 2020 Honda CR-V. (East Cobb News)
