🌱 Officers Kill Man Who Fires Gun Inside Home + New Daniell Principal

Good morning, neighbors! It's me, Carla Varner, your host of the East Cobb Daily. Here are all the most important things to know about what's happening in town.


First, today's weather:

Partly sunny and hot. High: 95 Low: 75.


Here are the top three stories in East Cobb today:

  1. The Cobb County Police Department said officers acted in self-defense when they shot and killed a man inside his home in Heritage Lakes Court in Mableton, about 20 miles from East Cobb, on Saturday. Responding to a domestic argument call, police arrived at the home and found a man making threats to the people inside. When the man began shooting, the officers "returned fire" and shot the suspect. (Fox 5 Atlanta)
  2. Attention East Cobb residents: don't forget that beginning today, Jun. 14, lanes along a part of East Piedmont Road will be closed overnight for construction. From 7:00 p.m. to 5:00 a.m., closures are expected on East Piedmont Road between Allgood Road and Sandy Plains Road. Repaving work will be ongoing through most of the summer. (East Cobb News)
  3. The Cobb Board of Education approved the promotion of Daniell Middle School Assistant Principal Amy Stump to principal. Stump will take the place of James Rawls who has been the principal at Daniell for the last four years. Rawls will be the new principal at Cooper Middle School. (East Cobb News)
